Husband Finds Wife Murdered In SW Dade Home

SOUTHWEST MIAMI-DADE - (CBSMiami.com) - A southwest Miami-Dade woman who co-owned a dance studio and banquet hall with her husband was found murdered in the couple's home early Sunday.

Fifty-year-old Elizabeth Roxana Palomino's body was discovered by her husband, Percy Palomino, inside the couple's home on the 138th block of Southwest 156th Street early Sunday morning.

"They've been married 27 years and very close together," said Percy's brother Eduardo Palomino. "It's been devastating for the kids and him."

The couple was at their business, Salsamor Dance Studios, around midnight Sunday morning. Roxana was said to be tired and decided to go home early.

Percy arrived home about an hour later at 1 a.m. He went into the house and tried to call Roxana, but she wasn't answering. Percy noticed a light on in Rodrigo's, their son, room. He tried to enter, but her body was blocking the door.

He eventually got in the room and discovered the extent of the crime.

"He saw her and kneeled down and called her," Eduardo said. "He got blood all over his hands and then he turned her around and saw that there was a big cut on her neck, and she was already dead and was getting cold."

Percy then called his daughter, and then the police. Eduardo said there was a broken window outside the room where Roxana was found and that his brother could never hurt Roxana.

"She's a very sweet woman, very soft, gentle, everybody liked her," Eduardo said.

Percy was questioned by police and released. However, police noted that doesn't mean he's not a suspect.

"We're being careful not to give too many descriptions from the scene," said police spokesman Det. Roy Rutland. "It's obviously a violent crime scene. As you can see we have investigators and crime scene technicians wearing booties to enter this residence. Forensic details we discovered inside this residence, we'd rather not disclose them at this time."

Police say they continue to investigate and have not named a suspect.
