Hurricanes To Face Washington State In Hyundai Sun Bowl

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – For the third consecutive season the Miami Hurricanes are bowl bound.
On Sunday the Hurricanes announced that they have accepted a bid to play in the 2015 Hyundai Sun Bowl in El Paso, Texas against Washington State.
The game will take place at 2 p.m. on December 26th.
This will be the 39th bowl game in school history, with Miami holding a 19-19 overall record in their previous bowl matchups.
"We are thrilled for the opportunity to compete against a talented team in Washington State," said Interim Head Coach Larry Scott. "To compete in the Sun Bowl is a special opportunity for our student-athletes to gain valuable postseason experience as we continue to move our program forward."
This will the first time that Miami has faced Washington State.
The Hurricanes finished their regular season by winning four of their final five games to finish with an 8-4 record.
"The Sun Bowl is one of college football's longest standing traditions and I am thrilled that the University of Miami will once again be able to be a part of this wonderful tradition," said UM Athletics Director Blake James. "This is a fantastic opportunity for our student-athletes to face off against a great opponent in Washington State and we look forward to the challenge."
Miami has not won a bowl game since defeating Nevada in the 2006 MPC Computers Bowl in Boise, Idaho.
