CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes basketball team has just returned home from winning the Puerto Rico Tip-Off Tournament, beating a pair of ranked opponents in the final two games.
On Monday the new NCAA basketball polls came out and the Hurricanes, who are 5-0 on the season, are being recognized.
Miami is ranked No. 15 in the Associated Press Top 25 Poll and No. 19 in the USA Today Coaches Poll.
According to AP, the Hurricanes are the sixth team in the last 10 years to go from being unranked one week to being ranked at least 15th the following week.
The Canes' No. 15 ranking is the highest ever for the team during the month of November. The previous high was in November of 2008 when they were ranked No. 17.
Miami was ranked for five weeks last season, with their last appearance as a ranked team coming the week of January 26, 2015 when they were No. 23 in both polls.
CBS Sports' updated Top 25 thinks a bit higher of Miami, ranking them number nine.
The Hurricanes next game is on Friday at 4 p.m. against Northwestern at the Bank United Center.
