Hurricanes DT Michael Wyche Arrested For Domestic Battery

CORAL GABLES (CBSMiami) – The Miami Hurricanes football team has been going through a very tough week.
Between Al Golden's firing, the passing of Artie Burns' mother and Brad Kaaya's concussion, things haven't been easy in Coral Gables.
Now the Hurricanes can add something else to the list.
Miami defensive lineman Michael Wyche was arrested on Wednesday morning. He's facing a misdemeanor domestic violence charge.
CBS4 caught up with Wyche as he was leaving Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami.
"Tell us your side of the story. What happened?" a CBS4 photographer asked him.
"I am a good person. I am innocent," Wyche replied. "It was a misunderstanding. We will clean it up."
The incident report from the South Miami Police indicates that Wyche threw his girlfriend – the mother of his child – up against the wall of this apartment in South Miami. Police said the "weapons" involved were hands, feet and teeth.
Wyche was booked into jail just before 5 a.m. on Wednesday, his 23rd birthday, and was still in jail through the afternoon. He did not have an attorney and was assigned a public defender, according to court documents.
The school has suspended Wyche indefinitely and issued a statement that it was "aware of the situation involving senior defensive tackle Michael Wyche," adding "The [athletics] department has no further comment at this time."
Wyche is a redshirt senior that has been with Miami since May of 2014. He played in each of the team's first four games this season but failed to register any statistics.
He appeared in 10 games for the Hurricanes last season, recording nine tackles.
Wyche is scheduled to appear in court on November 18th. He was ordered to stay away from the alleged victim.
