Hurricane Sandy Forces Flight Cancellations
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – As Hurricane Sandy leaves northeastern Cuba and heads toward the Central Bahamas, its rains and winds are causing flight cancelations here in South Florida.
Thursday morning at Ft. Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport, 14 flights had been canceled. The flights were to or from such destinations as Kingston, Jamaica, Freeport, Nassau, Georgetown and Eleuthera.
At Miami International Airport, 27 flights had been canceled. The flights impacted were also from or to Jamaica and the Bahamas.

Outer rain bands and gusty winds from the Category 2 hurricane pelted much of South Florida Thursday morning and conditions are forecast to get even worse through Friday.
Sustained winds of 15-35 mph may impact South Florida and the Florida East Coast with these conditions continuing through Saturday. Wind gusts could reach as high as 50-60 mph, primarily at the immediate coast or just offshore.
The East Coast of Florida from Flagler Beach to Ocean Reef and Lake Okeechobee are under a Tropical Storm Warning. The Upper Keys from Ocean Reef to Craig Key, Florida Bay and from Flagler Beach to Fernandina Beach are under a Tropical Storm Watch.
