Hurricane Rafael Racing To The Northeast
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – After passing to the east of Bermuda Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, Hurricane Rafael is racing to northeast over the Atlantic Ocean.
At 11 a.m., the center of the storm was about 545 miles south-southeast of Halifax, Nova Scotia. Rafael had top sustained winds of 75 mph and was moving to north-northeast at 35 mph.
Rafael is forecast to take a turn to the northeast and increase its forward speed on Wednesday.
The National Hurricane Center reports Rafael could lose its "tropical characteristics" on Wednesday, but it will still remain a powerful post-tropical cyclone for several days.
