Michael Holding Steady As A Hurricane
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Michael has made a turn to the northwest and is beginning to weaken over the open waters of the Atlantic Ocean, but is still holding on to hurricane strength.
At 11 p.m., the center of the storm was about 1175 miles west of the Azores. Michael's maximum sustained winds were holding at 75 mph with some higher gusts. The storm was moving to the northwest at 13 mph.
There are no watches or warnings posted for this storm.
Michael is forecast to take a turn to the north-northeast on Tuesday and increase in forward speed. Forecasters at the National Hurricane Center say Michael will continue to weaken and could be downgraded to a tropical storm sometime Tuesday.
