Hurricane Leslie Stationary South Of Bermuda
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hurricane Leslie has come to a halt hundreds of miles south of Bermuda.
At 11 p.m. Thursday the center of the storm was about 430 miles south-southeast of Bermuda. It had maximum sustained winds of 75 mph with higher gusts and was stationary.
A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Bermuda.
Leslie is expected to remain stationary throughout the night and begin to slowly drift to the north on Friday. It could strengthen into a Category 2 hurricane on Friday.
Swells generated by Leslie could affect portions of the northern Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda and the U.S. east coast from central Florida north. These swells could cause life-threatening surf and rip currents.
