Hundreds Of Marlins Tickets Available For Under $1
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – There comes a time when a team hits rock bottom in a season that started full of promise and descended into misery. For the Miami Marlins, Wednesday may be the day the team hit rock bottom this year.
According to StubHub via ESPN's Darren Rovell, there are hundreds of tickets available to Wednesday night's game against the Milwaukee Brewers available for less than $1. Seats were available for as little as $0.20 a piece on the secondary market.
The same can be said for tickets to Thursday's game and tickets as low as $0.90 are available for next weekend's games against the Cincinnati Reds and Atlanta Braves.
The Marlins have been in free fall since June and are firmly entrenched in last place in the National League East. Currently, the Marlins 23.5 games behind division leading 83-52.
Last year, the Marlins drew 1.52 million fans, for an average attendance of 19,007. In 2012, the Marlins have drawn 1.858 million fans for an average attendance of 27,733.
It's not a good start for Marlins Park, which was supposed to cure the problems of poor attendance for Marlins games. It appears that instead of a shiny new ballpark, what the fans really wanted built was a winner on the field.
