How You Can Honor the Lynn University Students Who Died in Haiti
It has been a day of tears, memories and hugs on the campus of Lynn University in Boca Raton.
Last year, at 4:53 pm on this day, a group of 12 students and 2 faculty members were in Haiti when a 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck.
Four students -- Christine Gianacaci, Stephanie Crispinelli, Britney Gengel and Courtney Hayes - along with Dr. Patrick Hartwick and Dr. Richard Bruno -- died in the quake.
Wednesday, the school community gathered to honor their lives and their service. That was the theme of the celebration -- that the students and faculty died doing something they wanted to do -- making a difference in the lives of others.
To that end, the families of each of the students have created foundations in honor of their children. The foundations will assist people and children throughout the world.
If you wish to donate or to learn more about the efforts of these loving families, the websites are listed below.
As Christine's father told me, when something like this happens you can either go down a dark road or you can try to make difference in someone's life. That's what all four of these families are striving to do.
