House Holding 31st Symbolic Vote To Repeal Health Care Law
WASHINGTON - For the 31st in 18 months, U.S. House Republicans will hold another symbolic vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act.
The vote will fall almost entirely along party lines, with South Florida's Republicans voting to throw out the entire Affordable Care Act; and Democrats voting to keep the law in place.
Wednesday's vote is the first since the U.S. Supreme Court deemed the Affordable Care Act constitutional by a 5-4 majority written by Chief Justice John Roberts. The Court found the law was legal under the taxing authority of Congress.
There have been cracks starting to form in the foundation of support for Republicans. Some vulnerable members have come out and said they support different parts of the Affordable Care Act.
The House vote has zero chance of making it anywhere, even when the House passes yet another repeal.
GOP leaders have come under fire from Democrats who accuse them of failing to take up meaningful job reforms and instead holding symbolic votes hoping to charge up their base.
House Speaker John Boehner said the repeal vote was to address the alleged costs of the bill which he said was hurting small businesses.
