Homeless Fathers Not Forgotten In Dade, Broward
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – Homeless fathers living on the streets of South Florida were not forgotten this Father's Day.
Volunteers with the Miami Rescue Mission and Broward Outreach Centers have been working to lift their spirits.
Fathers living in shelters in Miami, Hollywood and Pompano Beach were treated to meals, entertainment and gifts like new clothes and cologne before their big day. All the items were donated.
One resident described how the celebration helped him in the long process of reconnecting with his children after 15 years in jail.
The president of the Miami Rescue Mission says he wants homeless residents to know they are not forgotten.
