Hollywood To Lose More Than 800 Parking Spots Along Beach
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Finding a parking spot along Hollywood Beach is about to become a little more challenging.
Monday at midnight the 630-space parking garage at Johnson Street will close as construction begins for the new Margaritaville Hollywood Beach Resort, according to CBS4 news partner The Miami Herald.
But that's not all.
Also gone will be nearly 150 spaces in front of the garage and nearly 50 spaces along Johnson and Michigan streets.
So if you're heading to the beach – where do you park?
On the city's website, they posted a map of approximately 2,000 other spots to park on the beach as well as private lots.
The city is also encouraging people to "park remotely" and make use of the city's trolley system and the water taxi.
The city is also looking into building a parking garage in the old fire station at Nebraska Street and A1A.
The Margaritaville project, which is expected to take about two years to complete, will eventually have a parking garage with 600 public spaces.
