HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) – Police in Hollywood passed out fliers Saturday in an attempt to locate a man they believe attempted to abduct two young girls.
The attempted abductions were reported Friday.
In the first incident at 6:33 a.m. on Funston Street, the victim was on her way to school when the subject allegedly threw a cloth over her head.
The victim struggled and screamed sending the subject running.
In the second incident at 6:46 a.m. on South 21st Avenue, the victim -- an adult female -- was walking when she was approached from behind, police said.
A sheet was allegedly placed over her head and she was picked up in a "bear hug."
The victim was threatened with a knife, police said.
However, one was not seen, according to the victim.
The woman struggled with the man and a car drove past. Police believe the passing car forced the attempted abductor to flee.
Since the women struggled with the suspect, police are working to see if there is any DNA they can recover from the women.
Police are also looking for surveillance video from the areas where the incidents occurred.
Investigators believe the man's ultimate goal in the abductions was to commit a sexual battery.
Their description was of a man approximately 30-years-old between 5'7" and 5'9" tall between 130 and 140 pounds wearing a black baseball cap, black jeans and with a full facial beard.
