Hollywood Cops Search For Missing Kids; Mom A Suspect
HOLLYWOOD (CBSMiami) - Hollywood police are searching for two children and their mother who is believed to have taken them in violation of a court order.
12-year-old Kevin Fucien and 16-year-old Jacquelin Julien were last seen in the area of the 800 block of South 26th Avenue in Hollywood, Friday. Police believe the mother of the children, Guerline Paul, may have taken her kids, despite the fact that a court order prohibiting her to have contact with the children is in effect.
That order, issued in Broward county, prevents Paul from seeing her children.
On Friday night, CBS 4 News spoke with Paul's brother, Shiller, who resides with her at a home in Lauderhill.
"I told her not to do it -- to take the kids away," he told CBS 4's Carey Codd.
Shiller Paul said his sister hated being away from her children and he believes the kids wanted to be with her too.
He said he doesn't know where they are and doesn't know why his sister was ordered by a court last year not to have contact with the kids.
"I don't know what's going on," he said.
Because of the late hour that the allegations were released by police, CBS 4 News was unable to learn more details from court records about the no contact order that was issued against Guerline Paul in 2010.
Online court records show Guerline Paul was the respondent in a domestic violence case in 2009 and a child support matter also in 2009.
At the home in Lauderhill, a Broward Sheriff's Office investigator was parked outside and spoke with Shiller Paul.
At the home in Hollywood where the children were living -- with an aunt, according to Shiller Paul -- the lights were off and no one answered the door.
Police believe the trio may be traveling in either a 1995 red Isuzu Rodeo, with Florida tag 268TNM or a burgundy Toyota 4-Runner with tag V71 OHI.
Anyone who sees the cars is asked to call 911 or Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
