Holiday Party Brings Christmas To Kids Of Haiti Earthquake
MIAMI (CBS4)- Haitian children displaced by the earthquake that ravished their country will have a brighter Christmas this year.
The children, staying in Miami, will receive toys donated from a December toy drive on Wednesday at 12 p.m. Donated toys from the drive will be handed out to the children by City of Miami Mayor Tomas Regalado and the Miami Heat's mascot, Burnie.
The Miami Jewish Health System, who organized the drive, is marking the first Christmas since the January 2010 disaster by hosting the children. Healthcare staff, residents and South Florida families will be in attendance at the event.
Many Haitians are still reeling from the earthquake that left more than one million residents homeless. One of the hardest hit group are the children whose hope for a better future is tested daily as they try to survive from day to day.
