Hialeah Police Looking For Smash & Grab Crook
HIALEAH (CBS4) - Police are looking for a man who walked into a Burlington Coat Factory, smashed a display case, and got away with expensive jewelry, all while dozens of customers were shopping.
It happened at the store on West 49th street at about 8 p.m. Thursday.
Police say the suspect came into the store wearing a motorcycle helmet and jacket and used a hammer to smash the glass jewelry case near the door.
"There were anywhere from 50 to 60 people inside of the store. Fortunately no one was in any type of immediate threat," Hialeah Police Detective Eddie Rodriguez said. A lot of them were actually walking around the store and some of them didn't even realize what happened until police began to arrive."
The suspect got away on a motorcycle.
Police say they do have some surveillance video that may help them identify the man.
If you have any information on the case, call Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
