Hialeah PD: T-Mobile Robber Shot While Trying To Carjack Bystander
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Hialeah police said one of three robbers they arrested was shot during an attempted carjacking in northwest Miami-Dade on Saturday night.
Police said it all started when the three thieves hit up a T-Mobile store located at 410 Hialeah Drive.
An armored vehicle and the SWAT team were called out to scene as the situation unfolded.
Detectives tracked the suspects to the area of NW 36 Ave. and NW 35 St. – near an apartment building filled with families.
One subject was immediately arrested, the second was shot while attempting a carjacking and the third was arrested a short time later.
Miami-Dade police confirmed this scene is in its jurisdiction, but county police officers are only helping out Hialeah cops, who are the lead investigators.
Miami-Dade police told CBS4 News they originally responded to a call for a police-involved shooting and helped set up a perimeter.
Hialeah police have not confirmed any officer fired a gun.
The heavy police presence impacted traffic for several hours, since officers had to shut-down a stretch of busy NW 36 St. and several neighboring streets.
