Hialeah Officer Charged With Drug Possession
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – A Hialeah police officer has found himself on the wrong side of the law accused of drug possession.
On Saturday, police Sgt. Tomas Munoz was arrested and charged with one count of Felony Possession of Cocaine and one count of a Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, according to Hialeah police spokesman Carl Zogby.
"With all due respect your honor, I have nothing on my possession accept the 'a-form'." said Munoz when he appeared before a judge on Sunday.
"I am setting the standard bond amounts of count one $5,000 and count two of $1,000 for a total of $6,000," ruled the judge after reading the charges leveled at the officer.
Munoz bonded out and left the jail with his father.
Munoz, 41, has been a Hialeah Police officer since 1998.
Zogby said Munoz will be assigned to at-home status and relieved of all police duties and powers pending the outcome of the investigation.
Prior to his arrest, according to Zogby, Munoz was under Internal Affairs investigation and assigned to administrative desk duties with no police authority.
