Henne Unfazed By QB Talk
MIAMI (CBSMiami.com) – The buzz surrounding the quarterback situation for the Miami Dolphins has drawn the most attention as the Fins start practice this week. But one person not concerned about his job is starting quarterback Chad Henne.
"I'm here to compete," Henne said Friday. "I'm working hard to be the starter and be that guy."
Henne has heard the rumblings about the quarterbacks the Fins were trying to acquire (Kyle Orton) and the one the team signed Friday, Matt Moore. Henne said that he's not worried about who shows up at camp.
"It'll be a good competition," Henne said, "and we'll have fun with it. Our whole goal is to help the Miami Dolphins win games."
Henne also isn't worried about the pressure that is coming his way from the fans or the media.
"I put more pressure on myself than anything," Henne said. "We have a tough division but we're striving to be at the top."
As for Henne's head coach Tony Sparano, he has Henne at the top of the quarterback list as training camp practices started Friday. But, Sparano said they still have expectations of Henne.
"I want to see from Chad, clear progress, the leadership skills that should be at the next level now. I do know as the players came back, this guy took charge of them," Sparano said. "We've got to do some work on the deep ball. That has to improve from our end. Chad and Brian know that. With Chad, he's a rhythm guy and has been and we've got to help them that way."
