Heavy Traffic For BCS Championship Game
MIAMI LAKES (CBSMiami) –Due to the heavy traffic expected from the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game, South Florida drivers who usually take routes towards or around Sun Life Stadium should make preparations to stay clear of those roads Monday night.
Local commuters are advised to find alternative routes between the hours of noon and 9 p.m.
The Orange Bowl committee recommends drivers to stay clear of I- 95 northbound between downtown Miami and the Golden Glades interchange due to the game's traffic.
Those football fans attending the game should also find alternative routes, other than I-95/Florida Turnpike, and make their way to the stadium early.
Whether you're a Notre Dame fan or "Rolling with the Tide," fans are reminded that they must have a game ticket in order to park at Sun Life Stadium.
Cash parking lots at Sun Life Stadium will open at noon on game day.
Calder Race Track on the north side (off NW 27th Ave/University Drive); Betty T. Ferguson Park and Brentwood Elementary on the west side (NW 32nd Ave); and Norwood Elementary School (NW 14th Court), Norland High School and Norland Middle School (NW 12th Ave.) on the east side will also be used as cash lots as well.
Betty T. Ferguson will open at noon, Calder at 2 p.m. and the four schools will open at 3 p.m.
