Heat's Allen Pulls Rare Feat In Game 5
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Lost in the hubbub of the Miami Heat being one game away from elimination in the 2013 NBA Finals was a rare feat pulled off by guard Ray Allen in Game 5 of the series.
Allen, who is the NBA's all-time leader in three-point shooting, hit two three-point shots in Game 5, which isn't a surprise. But he was also fouled on both shots and converted the free throw to pull off the rare four-point play twice.
The last time a four-point play happened in the NBA Finals was last season when Oklahoma City guard Derek Fisher hit a three-point shot and was fouled by Mario Chalmers in Game 3. The Heat was also on the losing end of two four-point plays in Game 2 of the 2006 NBA Finals.
Allen's four-point plays came thanks to fouls by Tony Parker and Danny Green. Incidentally, Green has broken Allen's record for three-pointers made in a NBA Finals and still has time to extend the record with at least one more game to go.
Besides Allen, Stackhouse, Howard and Fisher, the other NBA players with a four-point play in a Finals game are Andrew Toney, Scott Wedman, Toni Kukoc, Hersey Hawkins, Glen Rice, Reggie Miller, Manu Ginobili, Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant.
