MIAMI (CBSMiami) – With the NBA Draft just a day away, rumors are picking up steam across the league.
One such rumor has to do a player that the Miami Heat could potentially target for the upcoming season.
According to ESPN, veteran guard Monta Ellis is going to opt out of the final year of his contract with the Dallas Mavericks and test the free agent market.
The same report lists the Heat and Indiana Pacers as teams that have shown interest in signing Ellis.
While Indiana seems a more likely scenario to add Ellis, the interest in Miami can't be ignored.
It's very possible that the Heat's interest hinges on whether or not Wade will stay with the team in the coming years.
Ellis was set to make $8.7 million in 2015-16 before opting out. He will almost certainly be paid more by a new team.
