DORAL (CBSMiami) — Miami Heat President Pat Riley said Monday he believes Chris Bosh's career in Miami is over.
On Monday morning, Riley said, "We are not working toward his return," according to Associated Press Basketball Writer Tim Reynolds.
As for the future of the team, Riley said, "We're rebuilding, but we're rebuilding to win now and that's always been our attitude."
During a press conference on Monday, Miami Heat Coach Erik Spoelstra had some loving words for Bosh and his family.
"CB [Chris Bosh] and I have had a different bond of player - coach. CB is always the guy that I would go to, especially on those championship teams. I just always really trusted his perspective. You know my love for him and his family won't change," said Spoelstra.
The announcement comes with training camp just weeks away and more news that Bosh had evidence of continued clotting.
According to the Miami Herald, it's believed to be related to one of two past clotting incidents which sidelined the player after the All-Star break in the past two seasons.
While the complication is not considered life-threatening if treated, it does require medication.
As for playing with that condition, it's considered unrealistic.
Bosh was diagnosed with a blood clot that went from his leg to his lung back in February 2015. He was also diagnosed with calf clot this past February.
