Miami Heat Owner Reportedly Fined $500K By NBA After Tweeting About Lockout
NEW YORK (CBSMiami/AP) - Miami Heat owner Micky Arison found himself in some Twitter trouble.
Arison has been fined by the NBA, three days after he made references to the locked-out league's ongoing collective bargaining process on his Twitter account.
The NBA did not disclose the amount of the fine, or say publicly why Arison was sanctioned, but several outlets are saying it's in the neighborhood of $500,000.
Arison posted several tweets Friday night, including a reply to someone who apparently wrote: "How's it feel to be apart of ruining the best game in the world? NBA owners/players don't give a damn about fans guess what? Fans provide all the money you're fighting over&you greedy (expletive) pigs."
Arison replied by saying "Honestly u r barking at the wrong owner." That tweet was deleted a short time later.
Another user asked Arison about his feelings on Los Angeles Clippers owner Donald Sterling, to which he wrote: "lol."
The NBA prohibits owners from speaking publicly about the labor situation.
Charlotte Bobcats owner Michael Jordan was fined in September after he told an Australian media outlet the NBA's current business model was "broken."
