Heat May Keep Bosh From Playoff Eligibility With Other Team

MIAMI (CBSMiami) – It's no secret that the situation with Chris Bosh and the Miami Heat has not been very pleasant.
Bosh wants to continue his NBA career but the Heat's doctors have not cleared him to play due to blood clot issues that have ended his last two seasons at the All-Star Break.
It got to the point where the Heat have said that Bosh's days of playing for the team are all but over.
Bosh still wants to return to the NBA and has been very clear about his intentions to do so, but he is still under contract in Miami and if the Heat don't cut him loose, that's just not going to happen.
According to ESPN's Zach Lowe, the Heat intend to not only keep Bosh from playing for Miami but also keep him from playing for any other team, at least long enough to be eligible for the playoffs.
"The most likely course of action as of now in this murky, sad situation, per sources all around it: The Heat wait until after March 1 to waive Bosh, so that he is not eligible to appear in the postseason for any team that signs him."
Bosh's salary will count against Miami's salary cap until one year after his last game, which will come in February.
The Heat will still be on the hook for Bosh's massive guaranteed salary, which is $79 million over the next three years, but that figure won't count against Miami's salary cap.
That will give them $25 million more in cap space to play with during the 2017 offseason and the years thereafter.
