Heat Make Wish Come True For Teen Cancer Victim
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) - The Miami Heat arrived for work Saturday to find a new player's workout gear hanging in a locker.
He's Thiago D'Elia, a 17-year-old guard from Atlanta who has fought cancer. The Heat are treating him as one of their own this weekend.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation reached out to the Heat to see if they could make D'Elia's dream of hanging out with LeBron James a reality. The Heat did not hesitate in saying yes, so at practice on Saturday, D'Elia wore a Heat uniform bearing his name, got some gifts from James, an autograph for a friend from Dwyane Wade and an experience he'll never forget.
D'Elia is currently cancer-free, and will have courtside seats for Miami's game Sunday against the Detroit Pistons.
