MIAMI (CBSMiami) - The Miami Heat (3-4) are in Memphis on Friday night to take on the Grizzlies (3-4) for their final tune-up game before the start of the season.
Final preseason games are usually dull affairs as teams tend to bench their starters or severely limit their minutes. However, this paves way for the Heat's rookies to leave their mark.
James Ennis started the preseason off with a bang, scoring a team-high 17 against the New Orleans Pelicans. But he has failed to repeat that early success and was even held out of the last game against the Rockets.
Shabazz Napier will also try and hammer out some consistency. The rookie guard scored 25 against the Spurs, but versus the Rockets he put up a goose egg.
If perchance the starters do play extended minutes, the Grizzlies' big men will be a good test for the smaller Heat. It will give Chris Bosh the opportunity to keep banging down low in back-to-back-to-back games; the Spurs' Tim Duncan, the Rockets' Dwight Howard, and now the Grizzlies' Zach Rudolph and Marc Gasol.
This game could help set a winning tone for the Heat – who have won their last three games – before the start of the regular season on Wednesday October 29th at home against the Washington Wizards.
