Heat Head To Milwaukee Looking For 21st Straight Win
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The Miami Heat will take the court in Milwaukee Friday night hoping to avoid history repeating itself as LeBron James and company go for the team's 21st consecutive victory.
The Heat's 20-game winning streak is the longest in the NBA this season and just 13 games away from the all-time record for longest winning streak held by the 1971-72 Los Angeles Lakers. That Lakers team won 33 games in a row before being upset by the Bucks in Milwaukee.
Besides carrying the 20-game winning streak, the Heat is also looking for the team's 50th victory of the season. The Heat is playing for the number one seed in the Eastern Conference, but has already wrapped up a playoff spot.
Milwaukee has been circled by some as a potential stumbling block on the Heat's winning streak. For Heat stars Dwyane Wade and Ray Allen, playing in Milwaukee is almost like going home. Wade was a college star at Marquette and Ray Allen is the Bucks' leader in career 3-pointers.
Still, the Heat has had its struggles playing in Milwaukee recently. In December, the Bucks hammered the Heat by 19 points and also won at home against Miami last season.
Friday's game could also be a preview of the first-round of the NBA Eastern Conference Playoffs this year. So, the Heat may try to send a message Friday night to the Bucks to not get too comfortable in the playoffs if these two teams are matched up in April/May.
