Heat Fans Stock Up On "White Hot" Gear Ahead Of Game 7
MIAMI (CBS4) - In a city where style is sport, Miami Heat fans are stocking up on "white hot" gear ahead of Game 7 of the NBA Finals.
The store at the American Airlines Arena was packed with people Wednesday afternoon, fresh off Miami's Game 6 overtime win.
"White Hot's the motto this season, like it has been in the past," Jessica Giordano said while wearing a white Udonis Haslem t-shirt. "There's a ton to choose from!"
The store boasts everything from jerseys and tank tops, to hoodies and hats.
"I'm going to be leaving here for every family member because I don't want anyone to feel left out," Lisa Barone told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. "We already have a bunch of stuff, but you can never have too much Heat gear."
Mariel Sucre came to the store on her lunch break. She's leaving for California Thursday but wanted to represent the Heat on the West Coast.
"I got his and hers LeBron t-shirts," she said while wearing hot pink Miami Heat sunglasses. "I got myself one and I got my boyfriend one."
The ladies apparel is studded with sparkles and there's a wall dedicated to jerseys for children.
Emily Gil said her parents let her stay up to watch the end of Game 6.
"It was awesome how Chris blocked that 3 pointer," the young girl exclaimed.
Store employees said a $40 tank top with the word "Believe" emblazoned across the chest has been the hottest item for women.
On Wednesday afternoon, there was just one left of the rack.
Chris Bosh's wife, Adrienne, wore the same style shirt to Tuesday's game.
She posted a photo of the "Peace, Love, World" design on her Instagram page.
Looking "white hot" can come with a hefty price tag.
Roberto Gil said he spent about $400 on stuff for his family to take home to Texas.
"Hats, shirts, basketballs, writsbands," Gil said. "And we got a Heat toaster!"
One hooded sweatshirt in the store had a price tag of $135.
Despite the prices, fans packed the registers claiming it was all money well spent.
Of course, there's probably cheaper merchandise out there, but it's buyer beware.
The NBA has investigators in town to make sure none of the stuff being sold in the streets is counterfeit merchandise.
As of Wednesday, a spokesman for the NBA said the league had confiscated or had surrendered over 900 pieces of counterfeit merchandise in the Miami area during the 2013 NBA Finals.
