Heat Fans Disappointed, Not Discouraged By Game 5 Loss
MIAMI (CBS4) - Disappointed but not discouraged, Miami Heat fans walked out the AmericanAirlines Arena Sunday night hoping their favorite players take full advantage of the home court on Tuesday.
Despite the Finals Game 5 loss to the Spurs in San Antonio, the Heat faithful showed their spirit at the last White Hot Road Rally of the season.
"We're going to win the next two games here in Miami," Lionel Montero shouted while motioning for the crowd to start cheering behind him.
All-star dads got some love at the arena Sunday and we're not talking about the Big 3.
LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh may be proud poppas, but it was the fathers off the court that received some much-deserved attention on Sunday.
"He's the best dad ever! I'm blessed to have him as a dad," Carolina Freitas said about her father who was watching the game beside her.
The doting dads had high hopes going into Game 5, many saying a win would be the best gift for Father's Day.
"First of all, I hope for a Heat win," Wesley Prosper said. "Second, I hope my son (has) an amazing night."
There was music, dancers and large cardboard cutouts of the players on display.
Some said it felt like the real thing.
"It's like being at a game," Gerard Hepburn told CBS 4's Lauren Pastrana. "You're around other fans. We love it. It's live. It's hype. You should all be here."
Last year, the Miami Heat played at home on Father's Day. This time around, they had to celebrate the special day out west.
The Miami Heat posted a photo on Instagram of Dwyane Wade spending some time with his family on the court before tip-off.
"I hope they're playing for their kids, so they pour their hearts out," Ricardo Lopez said.
Game 6 is Tuesday at the American Airlines Arena.
Game 7, if necessary, would be played Thursday.
