Heaney Tapped By Marlins In Draft
MIAMI (AP) — Oklahoma State left-handed pitcher Andrew Heaney has been selected by the Miami Marlins with the ninth overall pick in the draft.
Heaney was chosen the Big 12 Conference pitcher of the year. He went 8-2 this season with an ERA of 1.60 in 15 starts while leading the NCAA with 140 strikeouts in 118 1-3 innings.
Three years ago the Tampa Bay Rays drafted Heaney in the 24th round.
The first round of the draft was Monday. Rounds two through 15 will be Tuesday.
