LONDON (CBSMiami) -- Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first public appearance as newlyweds Tuesday.

The couple attended Prince Charles' 70th birthday celebration at Buckingham Palace, even though the heir to the throne doesn't officially turn 70 until November.

The royal family likes to celebrate early and often and it is expected more celebrations will be planned over the next few months.

The new duchess wore a pale pink-and-taupe silk-crepe Flavia dress from Goat with a matching custom Philip Treacy pink hat that showed off her perfectly polished side chignon. She accessorized her look with Tamara Mellon's Siren pump in Blush, according to People.

Tuesday's party, held in the gardens of Buckingham Palace, is highlighting the elder prince's charity work.

The party also paid tribute to first responders of the terrorist attack at Ariana Grande's Manchester concert in May 2017.

Nearly 6,000 guests attended.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex got married on Saturday at Windsor Castle as millions around the world watched their nuptials.

Both stayed out of the public eye on Sunday.

Their honeymoon destination has yet to be announced.
