Hallandale Police Reveal New Details About Slain Canadian Couple
HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) – Nearly one year after the bodies of Canadian snowbirds David Pichosky and Rochelle Wise were found in a Hallandale beach condo, police have released new information in the unsolved murders.
Wednesday morning, police held a news conference on the double homicide and revealed that the DNA of two women was found at the scene of the murder.
In addition, police released a photo of the style of shoe that left a shoe print which belonged to one of the suspects.
The DNA doesn't match either Pichosky or Wise, and it doesn't match anyone in U.S. or Canadian law enforcement databases, said Hallandale Beach Police Chief Dwayne Flourney.
Police also released a picture of the only thing missing from the couple's condo; Wise's $16-thousand diamond wedding ring.
Wise and Pichosky were found asphyxiated inside their Hallandale Beach winter home on Jan. 10, 2013. They were also found bound, said Flournoy.
Police said they do believe robbery was the motive.
Family members of the murdered couple joined police at Wednesday's news conference and begged for the public's help.
Sari Rosenblum, the daughter of Donny Pichosky said, "He was my dad and you only get one father. And mine was taken from me. Everyday is a nightmare. We have no closure and no peace."
Part of the case also involves a person seen on a neighbor's video surveillance system. A woman was spotted walking near the couple's home the day before their bodies were found. On the tape the woman is carrying an item and walks to the rear of the residence near the Intracoastal Waterway. The woman then walked back to the front/side area empty handed. Police have not been able to identify her.
On the day they died, police said the couple was expected to meet neighbors for lunch but never showed up. The concerned neighbors used a spare key to check the home and found the couple inside.
There's a $57,000 reward for any information about this case. If you know anything, call Broward Crime Stoppers at (954) 493-TIPS.
