Hallandale Beach Police Make Arrest In Double Shooting

HALLANDALE BEACH (CBSMiami) – The Hallandale Beach Police Department continues to investigate a double shooting, involving a man and a 9-year-old girl.
CBS4's Peter D'Oench has learned there is a twist and new development in this case.
The male victim who was shot has been arrested for a number of crimes.
Hallandale Beach police say they arrested 24-year-old Ronald Jean Duverge of Hallandale Beach and charged him with possession of a weapon by a convicted Florida felon and violation of probation.
A witness told police that Duverge fired his silver semi-automatic handgun and later gave a false statement.
That witness, Noah Jackson, said he returned fire at Duverge. Police said Jackson has a concealed firearms permit.
It happened Tuesday near NW 6th Avenue and NW 6th Street at around 2:15 p.m., while the adult and child were in a car.
Multiple shots were fired following a fight, according to police.
A witness showed CBS4's Rielle Creighton a cell phone that apparently shows the 310-pound Duverge on the ground outside of a house in the moments after the shooting as two men beat him.
The witness said he'd already been shot in the foot and ran before the pair caught up with him.
Police said Duverge had been shot in the right foot.
On the video, a witness can be heard screaming, "They shot his daughter!" Police have not confirmed if Duverge is related to the 9-year-old girl.
Officers arrive and break up the fight as the two men are taken into custody.
Chopper 4 images showed a silver-grey mini-van with its rear window blown out.
The two victims, who have not been identified, were taken to a local hospital and both are expected to recover.
In fact on Wednesday afternoon, Duverge was seen in Broward bond court in a wheelchair. A judge ruled that he be held without bond.

There is a reward of up to $3,000.
Police spokeswoman Ra Shana Dabney-Donovan said, "We are urging the public to come together and help us with this case." She called the shooting of a child as a particular concern and she urged people to call police to help them with the investigation.
