Gun Range Targets Made To Look Like Trayvon Martin
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – An entrepreneur has decided to cash in on the Trayvon Martin murder by creating a gun range target with a person in a hooded sweatshirt carrying Skittles and iced tea, exactly like Martin was wearing the night he was shot to death.
CBS' Orlando affiliate, WKMG, first reported on the targets. The targets have disappeared from the Internet since the first reports.
WKMG reported the advertisement for the targets was first posted on a firearms auction website and the sellers said they "support Zimmerman and believe he is innocent and that he shot a thug."
Martin was shot by George Zimmerman earlier this year. Martin was walking through a neighborhood that Zimmerman was patrolling as a self-proclaimed neighborhood watchman when the shooting happened. Zimmerman claims the shooting was self-defense.
Mark O'Mara, George Zimmerman's attorney, told WKMG, "This is the highest level of disgust and the lowest level of civility." O'Mara continued, "It's this type of hatred – that's what this is, it's hate-mongering – that's going to make it more difficult to try the case.
WKMG couldn't identify the seller of the targets, but said the seller of the targets said they sold out of the targets in two days.
