Broward College Gun Incident Triggered School Lockdowns
DAVIE (CBSMiami) — Police gave the "all clear" to Broward College's central campus Friday afternoon, after an incident involving an armed individual.
Broward College alerted students via its mass notification system around 2 p.m. Friday.
On-campus faculty members were told to shelter in place, while off-campus faculty members were told to stay off campus.
It is unknown where on campus the incident took place.
Davie Police PIO Captain Engel said one person punched another, provoking him to brandish a gun.
No one was shot, and both individuals were taken into custody.
The incident triggered four schools to briefly go on lockdown, according to Marsy Smith of Broward Schools: McFatter Technical School, College Academy, and all four Nova schools.
Engel said the lockdown was lifted around 2:45 p.m.
