Guillaume Named Haiti's New Consul In Miami
MIAMI (CBSMiami/AP) – Vowing to work with local leaders to improve services for at-risk youth and the elderly in the Haitian American community, Francois Guillaume was recently named Haiti's new cousul general in Miami.
In a news conference Monday for Haitian-American media, Guillaume promised to improve communication and transparency between the Haitian government and members of Haiti's diaspora and potential international investors.
He said his priorities include promoting investment opportunities and tourism in the Caribbean country.
Guillaume said the small consulate at the edge of Miami's downtown would be renovated and a satellite office would be opened in West Palm Beach to accommodate South Florida's large Haitian community.
