G'Town Vs. Fla. Carrier Game Tix Will Cost Big
JACKSONVILLE (CBSMiami/AP) - For the second straight year, a major college basketball game will be held on an aircraft carrier. But if you want tickets to the game between Georgetown and Florida to be held on a carrier in Jacksonville, be ready to pony up some major cash.
Jacksonville officials revealed ticket information Thursday offering what the city deemed "sponsorship packages" starting at $1,000 with a maximum price of $50,000 for the game.
The high cost is related to the city tying the tickets to a home game for the Jacksonville Jaguars. The Jags have perennially been the lowest-drawing NFL team and with the team squarely in rebuilding mode again this season, things don't look good for a spike in attendance.
The cheapest "sponsorship" to the game will give you two tickets to the basketball game and six tickets to Jacksonville's game against the Indianapolis Colts the night before.
Four of the tickets to the football game will then be donated to military personnel. The package also reportedly included "VIP access to related events."
The tickets go on sale Monday.
