Green Bay is Packin' For Super Bowl
CHICAGO (AP) — The Green Bay Packers are back in the Super Bowl. Quarterback Aaron Rodgers and a strong defense powered the Pack into the past the Chicago Bears 21-14 for the NFC championship. Rodgers ran for a touchdown and made a saving tackle on a Brian Urlacher (UR'-lah-kur) interception.
B.J. Raji's (RAH'-jeez) 18-yard interception return for a touchdown in the final quarter put the Packers up 21-7. Green Bay then withstood a rally led by Chicago third-string quarterback Caleb Hanie (kah-LEEB' HAH'-nee). He led two fourth-quarter TD drives, but Chicago's last chance to tie the game ended in the final minute when Sam Shields came up with his second interception in Packers' territory.
Bears starter Jay Cutler hurt his knee and played only one series in the third quarter. He was replaced by Todd Collins, who misfired on all four passes.
The sixth-seeded Packers have now won road games in Philadelphia, Atlanta and Chicago.
The last time the Packers were in a Super Bowl was January of 1998 in Super Bowl 32. This will be their fifth appearance in the Super Bowl.
The Bears will play the winner of the Jets-Steelers AFC Championship game on February 6 in Super Bowl 45.
