Gov. Scott: Buy More Lotto Tickets To Help The Kids
TALLAHASSEE (CBSMiami/AP) – While Gov. Rick Scott has said in the past that he does not want the state's budget to rely on more gambling, he would like lawmakers to increase ticket sales of the Florida Lottery to boost money for schools.
Scott has recommended to state lawmakers that they grow lottery ticket sales to help pay for a $1 billion increase for education. In addition to an increase in ticket vending machines, Scott also wants to change state law to allow the Florida Lottery to install so-called full service machines that sell both scratch-off tickets and online games such as Powerball.
As for bringing mega-casinos to South Florida, Scott has played it close to the vest and refused to take a firm position.
