Gov. Rick Scott Hosts Event For NASCAR Officials
TALLAHASSEE (CBS4)-Gov. Rick Scott and First Lady Ann Scott hosted a reception at the Governor's Mansion to celebrate NASCAR and its economic and historical significance to Florida.
Guests at Wednesday evening's event included a delegation of NASCAR and International Speedway Corporation executives and NASCAR drivers. Hall of Famer Darrell Waltrip and Rusty Wallace, who is ranked 8th in NASCAR's all-time wins, were on the guest list. Other drivers at the celebration were 2011 Daytona 500 winner Trevor Bayne, Tallahassee native Ricky Carmichael, Juan Pablo Montoya, Brian Vickers, Joe Nemechek and Joey Logano.
The reception also highlighted NASCAR Unites, which strives to improve the lives of children across the nation.
A collection of NASCAR Sprint Cup Series show cars and a Daytona International Speedway pace car were displayed outside the mansion.
