Good 4 You: Ann Storck Center Spreads Holiday Cheer
FORT LAUDERDALE (CBS4) - A group of South Florida students is really showing us the true meaning if the season.
Their holiday party was a milestone many parents thought they would not see.
The holidays around the Ann Storck Center are full of more than spirit. They are also all about faith. Moment after moment, each child fulfilled a tradition many others take for granted. Among those celebrating the season is Amanda.
"Every day, I am so blessed to have her here. I am lucky to have her," said Sandra Fredrickson, Amanda's mother.
Shy, but determined she sat on Santa's lap, Amanda's amazing journey began a few years ago.
Amanda was born 2 months early weighing just over three pounds. She has Cerebral Palsy. Amanda is visually impaired and battles developmental disabilities, but her time at the Ann Storck Center in Fort Lauderdale is bringing the light back into her eyes.
"How much she has learned from barely speaking when she came in to now she is speaking full sentences. She gets physical therapy," said Fredrickson to CBS4's Jorge Estevez.
The school specializes in children who need extra love and attention and their stories of success are truly a holiday miracle.
"It lets them know they are loved are cared for. It makes them feel like they are just like everyone else," said Charlotte Mather Taylor, Executive Director of the Ann Storck Center.
And moms need to know their little ones have allies on their side.
"It is amazing especially the teachers and the love that is felt here at the Ann Storck Center. I am very blessed to have them in my life," said Fredrickson who encourages everyone to look into helping the Ann Storck Center.
