Gingrich Campaign May Be On Last Leg
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich's Republican presidential campaign may not make it to the state of Florida.
According to Politico, Gingrich said he hopes to finish third in New Hampshire.
But for the first time Gingrich admitted that without a victory in South Carolina; his presidential campaign may come to an end.
"It would be very hard," Gingrich told Politico about continuing on without a victory in South Carolina.
Gingrich's fall has been as fast as his rise in the polls at the end of November and the beginning of December.
He ascended to the top of the Republican field and was then greeted with millions of dollars in attack ads in Iowa.
Gingrich has started to try to paint GOP front-runner Mitt Romney in a negative light. Gingrich is repeatedly hitting Romney for his time at Bain Capital, which both created some jobs and eliminated many others.
Romney had tried to claim that he created 100,000 jobs while at Bain Capital. However, his own campaign has since conceded that the number may not be accurate.
