Mega-job fair in Sunrise looks to fill 3,000+ positions
SUNRISE - More than 50 entities looking to fill 3,000 positions welcomed job seekers at a mega job fair inside the FLA live arena Friday
Among those hiring were Allstate, Allied Universal, Arc Broward, CareSource Broward, City of Boca Raton, City of Sunrise, the Florida Panthers, the Miami Dolphins, The Riverside Hotel, Wyndham Destination, Allied Universal, Seminole Public Safety Department, Sherwin-Williams, and US Sugar.
Positions include police officers, security, food service, technicians, sales reps, customer service, IT, teacher assistants, insurance agents, police officers, and account executives.
There was a long line at the US Postal Service booth. Reps said they were hiring mainly for 'seasonal workers' because of increased demand from now until December 31st. Jobs pay $20 dollars an hour.
Jacqui Dejuste spoke with a postal rep about opportunities. He says his home-based tax preparation business is drying up and he's looking for outside work. "I will take seasonal it what's available," he said
Sous chef Brandon Carr said he's been looking for work for about two months He says potential employers haven't been willing to pay as much as he was earning at his prior job with the Seminole Tribe casinos.

A newcomer to the event: the Florida Department of Transportation.
FDOT maintenance manager Christopher Chanel said outreach to the community is a goal of the transportation Secretary.
Chanel said there are dozens of jobs open at the DOT paying between $50 and $100k
