George Zimmerman Staying In Safe House
ORLANDO (CBSMiami/AP) – Released on bond for a second time in the shooting death of 17-year old Trayvon Martin, former neighborhood watch leader George Zimmerman is in a safe house that is being protected bya security team.
Zimmernan's attorney said Sunday he was in Seminole County in central Florida.
Zimmerman, who is charged with second degree murder, secured the bond Friday and walked away from the Seminole County Jail shortly before 3 p.m. He was released from jail after his defense fund helped him post 10 percent of the $1 million bond.
A judge revoked his previous $150,000 bond last month when prosecutors presented evidence that Zimmerman and his wife misled the court about how much money they had.
Security at the home where Zimmerman is staying was necessary since some of Martin's supporters have been angry that he wasn't arrested until 46 days after the February shooting in Sanford.
Zimmerman has reportedly received death threats.
During his release, Zimmerman faces very strict conditions including:
- Refrain from any criminal activity of any kind
- Shall not have any contact with the victim's family, directly or indirectly, except as necessary to conduct pretrial discovery through his attorneys
- Shall be subject to electronic monitoring at his own expense
- Shall not leave Seminole County without prior authorization by the court
- Shall check in with pre-trial release department every 48 hours
- Shall not enter the property of the Orlando-Sanford International Airport
- Shall not open or maintain a bank account
- Shall not consume any alcohol
- Shall obey a curfew between 6 p.m and 6 a.m.
- Shall not apply or obtain a passport
