Gators Working On Top 5 Recruiting Class
GAINESVILLE (CBSMiami) – While the University of Miami is struggling on National Signing Day, the Florida Gators have their entire class of 27 recruits signed, sealed, and delivered as of 3 p.m. Wednesday.
The Gators plan to sign 26 players in the 2013 class and Rivals.com has ranked the Gators' recruiting class as the second best in the nation, just behind the Alabama Crimson Tide, who is coming off a national championship.
At the top of the Gators' class are two five-star recruits in linebacker Alex Anzalone from Pennsylvania and Vernon Hargreaves, III from Tampa. The Gators have also signed a pair of 300+ pound defensive tackles in Caleb Brantley of Crescent City, Florida and JUCO transfer Darious Cummings from Mississippi.
Florida's class is balanced between offense and defense, but the additions of Anzalone and Hargreaves are key moving forward due to the losses the Gators suffered this season to the NFL. Florida lost junior safety Matt Elam and junior defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd, both of which were key players for a top Gators defense.
Florida has secured 27 signed letters of intent as of 3 p.m. Wednesday
