Gators Tap Boise State Coach As Coordinator
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (CBSMiami) – The University of Florida needed an upgrade at offensive coordinator after the failed Charlie Weis experiment.
Wednesday, they got that upgrade from a school that has been the biggest BCS buster of them all.
The school announced Wednesday that former Boise State Broncos offensive coordinator Brent Pease has accepted the same position with the Gators.
Pease led the Broncos to have one of the most prolific offenses in college football over the past several years. He's also been an offensive coordinator at Baylor and Kentucky.
"I'm excited to join the University of Florida football family and The Gator Nation," Pease said in a statement released by the school. "I've always had the utmost respect for Coach (Will) Muschamp and the UF program and I'm honored to have the opportunity to work at one of the premier institutions in the nation."
Last season, the Broncos offense averaged 44.2 points per game, to rank fifth in the nation, according to cfbstats.com.
Boise State averaged 172 yards per game on the ground and 309.4 yards per game through the air. Overall, the Broncos averaged 481.3 yards per game.
