Gators Building Game Plan For Freshman QB
GAINESVILLE, Fla. (CBSMiami.com) – University of Florida offensive coordinator Charlie Weis has a conundrum on his hands after starting quarterback John Brantley was ruled out for Saturday's game at LSU.
Weis will have to design a game plan that will accentuate the strengths of freshman quarterback Jeff Driskel, while also trying to counter the defensive scheme of LSU that has shutdown every opponent in its path.
Weis though was non-committal to Driskel, despite him being number one on the depth chart now.
"We don't know yet. We're practicing, the head coach previously told you," Weis said, according to the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, "and we're practicing the other three guys and be the end of the week, we'll decide who the starter is."
Driskel came in during the second-half of last weekend's loss to Alabama and did not impress while going up one of the top three defenses in the country.
Still, Weis, a noted quarterback guru, said any of the quarterbacks, Driskel, Jacoby Brissett, or Tyler Murphy, could run the game plan he is building for LSU.
