Gas Prices Hold Steady Despite Egyptian Coup
MIAMI (CBSMiami) – The coup d'etat in Egypt continues to shake global markets, but so far, gas prices haven't made a significant jump since tensions in the Middle Eastern country started to rise.
Across the country, gas prices are averaging $3.48 a gallon for regular unleaded. The prices are actually down for last month when prices were averaging $3.62 a gallon. Still, regular unleaded is more expensive today than it was one year ago when the price averaged $3.34 a gallon.
Florida drivers saw a little bit of a relief with prices hovering at $3.43 a gallon, but those prices were roughly even with last month's average price of $3.45. Overall, Florida drivers are paying almost 30 cents more per gallon this year than last year.
In Fort Lauderdale, gas was averaging $3.50 per gallon, while in Miami-Dade County; gas was just a bit cheaper at $3.48. Miami's prices were 19 cents more this year than the same time in 2012.
Drivers in Hawaii were paying the most per gallon at $4.32 a gallon while South Carolinians saw the cheapest gas in the nation, averaging $3.16 a gallon.
